Day 10 of #31AuthorsofHalloween – MaryJanice Davidson

If I was to choose any series out of all of the books I have collected over the years, I would have to choose the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson as my favorite of all time. If you like comedy with drama, with some horror mixed in, this is the book to pick up.

You have a woman, whose real name is Elizabeth Taylor, but would rather go by the name Betsy, is killed by a truck. She wakes up in the morgue, lol, on the day of her funeral. She does not understand what happened. She goes by her parents house, who are ready to go to the funeral, her dad faints, her step-mom cannot comprehend. She finds out her step-mom took all of her name brand clothes. She takes it all back and goes home.

She finds out she is a vampire when she felt threatened, and her fangs came out. After many years as a vampire, she still has a lisp. Her friend finds out that she is back from the dead, and is a vampire, and thinks it is the coolest thing in the world by saying “you can fight crime!”. She meets a man who is also a vampire, she despises him at first, and ultimately falls in love with him. She befriends a nurse in the midst of him trying to commit suicide, and ends up bringing him home to live with her.

She has a half-sister who . . . Get this . . . Is birthed by Satan. And she is a Catholic school girl. She does charities, she is the Good Samaritan, but when she gets pissed, she channels the Satan in her.

Betsy has werewolves as her allies, she has a zombie in attic, her step-mother is a ghost and lives with her and nags her all the time. She adopted a rogue vampire, who loves to knit. I mean the list goes on.

I hope this post itself intrigues you to pick up this series, and laugh her booty off if you still want something dark, but hilarious at the same time.

Day 9 of #31AuthorsofHalloween – Laurell K Hamilton

Here is another author who I truly adore (yes, I have a lot of authors who write paranormal romance, which was my first love). A friend introduced me to this author back in 2008, with Guilty Pleasures. I was addicted at the start of the first page.

Basically, you have a necromancer who mostly raises the dead to solve crimes. She befriends Vampires and Weres, has relationships just like us (and sometimes, I wonder why some men are more emotional than me hahahaha). There are many books in the series, and in each book, you are introduced to a new character. Currently, there are many different characters. You will have your faves

Then there is the Merry Gentry series. Which I think is my favorite series of hers. Merry is a Fae, and is trying the get the throne. In order to get the throne, she must get pregnant before her cousin has a child. She is protected by different Fae, and each one takes a turn to get her pregnant. I won’t give the ending lol. Her aunt, who is the queen, is evil, and is passing the throne to her son, or Merry, like I said whoever has a child first. There are trials that Merry must go through, and through these trials, she gains allies, and basically becomes stronger.

If you love paranormal romance, violence, gore, erotica, and more all combined into these two series, please start reading them. Would I let you down?
